This great tour will take you through some of the inland gems in the Mourne Mountains region, including beautiful parks, scenic valleys and mythical spots. The attractive reservoir of Silent Valley is situated in the high Mournes in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between the granite peaks of Slieve Binnian and Slievenagloghy. A visit here will be a great introduction to the nature and wildlife of Northern Ireland and will also introduce you to some of the enchanting folklore of the area. Another place for tales of folklore is the famous “Fairy Road” close to the beautiful Spelga Dam.
Also known as the “magic road” and Electric Brae, at this small hill you can experience the phenomena of Newton’s law of gravity being defied. Enjoy the experience of “the fairies pushing your car back up the hill”! You can also visit the delightful Kilbroney Park for a drive to gain panoramic views over Carlingford Lough, and for the walkers there are great opportunities to climb to the famous Cloughmore or “big stone”. Finish your day with a walk around the lovely town of Rostrevor.
